In this unit, students created animations using the animation software ABCYa Animate. Through learning behind the scenes processes of basic animation and exploration of the animation software, students built upon techniques and skills that they then used in the production of their final animation that showed “perspective”.

The lesson presentations above show how I met TQS IIIB in this unit. While teaching this lesson Pear Deck became one of the ways of formally assesing students’ understanding of the content. Informal assessments happened through verbal answers and actions the students took during the lessons and work time. Before students went to Pear Deck we would go over each key term then do a “turn-and-talk” with a partner. For terms that came with multiple slides and examples, such as frames, students would act out what was happening on the slide to reinforce understanding. Based on the student’s answers key terms were revisited before the end of the day or reviewed in the following.

The screen recordings created for this unit show how I met TQS IIIA by showing the preparation that went into the lessons to help students in learning by giving them multiple methods of information delivery. Also, because these lessons were adapted to Pear Deck and Seesaw students could watch and rewatch the videos whenever they needed. Students did quite a bit of independent exploration of ABCYa Animate but the videos helped explain most of the critical pieces of information the students needed to know.
