I believe the purpose of art education starts with the student and the personal experiences they bring into the classroom. The art room offers students a safe place to experience themselves and learn to see the world with a creative mind and become the person they want to be. From the moment students walk through the door of the art classroom, they engage in transformative critical and creative thinking with their peers and teacher through the exploration of big ideas, artists, materials, and themselves. There is no one right way to live a creative life and be an artist and because of that art education is full of opportunities.
